Powering Strong Communities

Energy Innovation

The American Public Power Association helps public power utilities prepare for a new era in electricity by providing resources, forums, and training on various energy innovation topics. This includes understanding new and emerging technologies – such as electric vehicles and energy storage – and how structures such as rate design and regulations can shape the future.

Utilities looking to test or deploy new technologies or techniques can apply for funding through Demonstration of Energy and Efficiency Developments, or DEED, public power’s research and development program.
