The American Public Power Association (APPA) respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its website, To protect online privacy, APPA has implemented the following policy.

Information Collection
To gain access to members-only content, to register for an APPA conference/meeting, to purchase a product or submit a classified job ad on, a user must first complete the registration form. The user is required to give contact information including name, company, phone, and email address. This information is incorporated into APPA's membership database maintained by APPA staff.

Information Use
APPA may use email or postal addresses for notifying members about upcoming APPA events, new additions to the website, new publications or other services that might be of interest.

APPA uses the contact information including name of general manager/CEO, company, address, phone and fax to produce the Public Power Directory and Statistical Report, which is provided free to members and sold to the public. APPA also on occasion sells the contact information in the form of mailing lists to third parties that offer products and services for a one-time use. The mailing list information includes name, title, company, and address. Emails, phone and fax numbers are not provided.

APPA uses and analyzes web logs that automatically record basic information about visitors.
