Distributed Energy Resources
Arevon Energy on Dec. 9 announced the start of operations at its Eland 1 Solar-plus-Storage Project in Kern County, California. Eland 1 Solar-plus-Storage, based in the city of Mojave, is a 384-megawatt solar project coupled with 150 MW/600 megawatt hours of energy storage.
Reliability
The American Public Power Association is seeking nominations to fill positions on the Reliable Public Power Provider Program Review Panel.

The Santee Cooper Board of Directors on Dec. 9 approved $1.5 billion in non-fuel operations and maintenance costs and capital spending for 2025, as part of its annual budget review for the utility. The board also approved new base rates for retail customers, offering new flexibility for customers to control their monthly bills.

Texas public power utility CPS Energy has entered into a long-term storage capacity agreement with OCI Energy for a 120 megawatt/480 megawatt-hour battery energy storage project called “Alamo City ESS LLC,” which will be located in south Bexar County, Texas.

The Long Island Power Authority Board of Trustees is announcing a series of policy changes and strategic initiatives to facilitate underground transmission and distribution lines across Long Island and the Rockaways to enhance reliability and community resilience, LIPA said on Dec. 6.

The annual report evaluates resource adequacy risk over the next 10 years, with this year’s report revealing a sharp rise in large loads, creating the need for unprecedented resource additions.
