Florida public power utility KEYS Energy Services relaunched its popular rebate program for energy efficient appliances and equipment on October 1.

After years of stagnant growth, U.S. electricity demand recently surged, with the increase driven in part by the commercial sector, particularly the rapid expansion of data centers and the adoption of artificial intelligence, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City said in a Sept. 25 Economic Bulletin

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations on Oct. 3 opened applications for up to $400 million “to spur innovative, community-focused, clean energy solutions for rural and remote communities across the United States.”

The Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office announced on Oct. 3 a conditional commitment to EVgo Swift Borrower LLC for a loan guarantee of up to $1.05 billion to expand public electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity on Oct. 2 announced the launch of the Community Microgrid Assistance Partnership, which is designed to assist remote, rural, and electrically isolated communities in developing resilient microgrid systems that enhance energy reliability and security, particularly in historically underserved and/or Indigenous areas.

The American Public Power Association and its members will celebrate this year’s Public Power Week from Oct. 6 to October 12. This year’s theme for Public Power Week is “Pride in Public Power.”
