Electric Vehicles
The Department of Energy on Jan. 19 announced $46.5 million for 30 projects in 16 states and Washington, D.C. to boost electric vehicle charging performance, resiliency, and reliability, “support equitable access to clean transportation solutions and grow the clean energy workforce,” the Department of Energy said. The $46.5 million of funding will be executed by the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation.
Environment
The American Public Power Association generally supports a Department of Energy proposal tied to the agency’s implementing regulations governing compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The proposal would add categorical exclusions (CEs) for certain energy storage systems and revise CEs for upgrading and rebuilding transmission lines and for solar photovoltaic systems.
