Power restoration efforts were underway on Sept. 12 after Hurricane Francine made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane in Louisiana. Francine has since been downgraded to a tropical depression.

Poweroutage.US reported that as of the morning of Sept. 13, Louisiana had 121,633 customers without power.

Louisiana public power utility Lafayette Utilities System on Sept. 12 said in a post on the social media platform X that linemen from LUS were traveling to Houma, La., to assist with restoration efforts, accompanied by crews from several Florida public power utilities.

Prior to the arrival of Francine, public power utility crews traveled to Louisiana to pre-position to help with power restoration efforts as Hurricane Francine continued on a path to the state’s coastline.
