The Oklahoma Municipal Power Agency Board of Directors approved at its October meeting a new rate schedule for the sale of renewable energy credits.

The new policy includes RECs originating from the newly-created North Fork Solar Farm, which were previously unavailable.

Under the rate schedule, RECs will be available at one credit per mWh. RECs generated from wind and those generated from solar will each have their own separate charge, OMPA noted in the September/October issue of the Outlet, the joint action agency’s newsletter.

The policy for the new rate schedule will go into effect for service billed after February 1, 2025.

“RECs, especially new ones, have grown in popularity with organizations and companies who are pursuing goals or mandates surrounding renewable energy or carbon reductions,” OMPA noted.

OMPA said members with customers who are interested in purchasing RECs should contact OMPA staff with further details.
