Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews continued to work around the clock to restore power and support firefighting efforts tied to a windstorm, it said on Jan. 9.
As of 7 AM on Jan. 12, crews had restored power to 362,482 customers since the start of the windstorm.
"Our crews have also been able to bring the number of single-outage customers--- customers whose outage affects only their residence due to a location-specific issue—down to less than 20 residences, from its peak at more than 1,000 single-outage customers," it said.
As of 5 PM, Jan. 12, approximately 18,500 customers remained without power, out of LADWP’s 1.5 million electric customers— most of whom are in the fire-affected areas of Pacific Palisades and Brentwood. "Our crews are currently assessing the fire-affected areas and will begin restoration efforts when assessments have been completed."
LADWP’s open-air reservoirs, including Lower Stone Canyon and the Encino Reservoirs, have been supporting CALFIRE and LAFD’s aerials firefighting efforts, it said on Jan. 9.
APPA said it was tracking the wildfires that are currently impacting Southern California and reaching out to affected utilities in the area and stands ready to work with the public power community “and our federal government partners to assist if needed. We urge all people in the area to heed local alerts, prepare emergency plans, and be ready to evacuate when told to do so.”
