The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities announced the election of David Haley as its new Board President.
Haley, who has served on the BPU Board since 2021, was unanimously elected during the Board’s January 22, 2025, meeting with other officers for the upcoming term.
As Board President, Haley will work closely with BPU leadership "to guide the organization’s strategic priorities, ensure operational excellence, and uphold its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable utility services to the Wyandotte County community," the public power utility said.
The BPU Board is comprised of members elected by the public, representing both district and at-large seats, ensuring community voices are reflected in BPU’s governance.
BPU General Manager Jeremy Ash congratulated Haley on his new role. “I look forward to working alongside Mr. Haley to continue driving BPU’s mission forward. Our shared focus on collaboration, innovation, and service to our customers will ensure we are a trusted partner to the community we serve.”
Haley succeeds Tom Groneman, who served as the Board President since February 2024.
Groneman’s leadership was key in guiding strategic initiatives and strengthening community partnerships during his tenure.
In addition to Haley’s election as incoming Board President, the BPU Board unanimously elected Rose Mulvany Henry as Vice President and Brett Parker as Secretary for the upcoming 12-month term.
All newly elected officers will assume their roles at the February 5, 2025 board meeting.
The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities serves over 67,000 electric and 53,000 water customers in Wyandotte County.
