For Hispanic Heritage Month, Julio Torrado, the Director of Human Resources and Communications at Florida public power utility KEYS Energy Services, returned to his alma mater, Key West High School, to speak with students, sharing his life story and detailing career opportunities at the utility.

He spoke to students in the high school’s English Language Learners Strategies & Support program and shared his journey as the child and grandchild of immigrants and how education and perseverance helped shape his path to success.

Torrado shared the story of his family’s journey from Cuba to the Florida Keys. He captivated students with personal reflections about his Cuban heritage, his family’s immigration story, and his deep roots in the community.
Torrado also shared fascinating facts about Keys Energy Services, inspiring several students to say they could see themselves working there one day.  

He also emphasized the value of education and perseverance, reminding everyone that earning a high school diploma is the foundation for success.

“It was wonderful to be able to return to my high school alma mater and let the students know more about Keys Energy Services and the wealth of career paths they can pursue at the utility,” he said.
