Florida public power utility JEA this summer rolled out “Wired for Legacy,” a three-part docuseries celebrating the next generation of line workers keeping family traditions alive.
The first episode aired in June featuring Hunter “Cowboy” Thomas, a JEA apprentice inspired by the legacy of his father.
The second chapter of “Wired for Legacy” aired Aug. 5 highlighting Auston LaFavor, a fourth-generation apprentice whose journey is shaped by generations of lineworkers, high expectations and unwavering support from his family.
JEA is planning to launch the third installment in late September.
Each new episode brings personal stories of passion, pride and purpose—and a closer look at the people behind the power. Follow all episodes here.
“For many JEA crew members, linework runs in the family, a shared pride in their work and dedication to service passed down through generations. I’m proud that others are getting to hear their personal stories and see the passion they bring to their work and the Jacksonville community,” said JEA Chief Electric Systems Officer Ricky Erixton.
JEA believes the video series helps its customers to gain a better understanding of the dedication of its line workers and the sense of family pride in their work, said Karen McAllister, Public Information Officer for JEA, and that customers of public power utilities in other regions would likely benefit from a similar docuseries.
