Idaho Falls Power was honored with the "System Improvement Award" at the Utah Associated Municipal Power System 2025 Annual Member Meeting.

“This award recognizes utilities that have made significant improvements in electric service and reliability for their customers and this year, we are being recognized for our new 17.5 MW Natural Gas Peaking Plant,” Idaho Falls Power said.

The utility recently held the ribbon cutting at this state-of-the-art peaking plant, a $36 million investment that adds on-demand generation capacity to local energy resources and strengthens reliability during times of high demand, whether it’s a hot summer afternoon or a winter peak.

“Our peaking plant will help reduce reliance on volatile energy markets, support local control of our power supply, and keep rates stable for our community now and into the future, all while building on IFP’s 125-year legacy of affordable, reliable, community-owned energy,” the utility said.

“Thank you to UAMPS for this recognition and to our incredible team for their hard work and commitment to service!,” Idaho Falls Power said.
