Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter and Hitachi Energy officials announced on Aug. 20 that the company is expanding manufacturing operations in Alamo, Tennessee.

Hitachi Energy will invest an initial $97 million and create 100 new jobs through the project with plans for future growth.

The additional investment in Alamo will allow the company to expand its manufacturing presence, increasing its total capacity for transformer components such as high-voltage direct current (HVDC) bushings across the globe.

“TVA and Gibson Electric Membership Corporation congratulate Hitachi Energy on its decision to expand operations in Crockett County," said John Bradley, senior vice president of economic development for TVA.

"It’s always an exciting day when we can celebrate a company’s continued commitment to growth in the region. We are proud to partner with the Crockett County Chamber of Commerce and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to support companies like Hitachi Energy as they expand their presence in the U.S., and we celebrate this announcement together,” said Bradley.
