Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida on Thursday night as a Category 4 system, with more than one million customers without power in the state as of Friday morning.

Prior to the arrival of Helene in Florida, crews from public power utilities across the U.S. pre-deployed in the Southeast to assist with power restoration efforts.
The Florida Municipal Electric Association on Sept. 25 provided details on how public power utilities were preparing for Helene.
In Georgia, 845,000 customers in that state were without power as of early Friday morning after Helene rolled through the state, according to PowerOutage.us.
