American Municipal Power, Inc. on Aug. 22 said it recently welcomed three new Member communities from the state of Pennsylvania: The boroughs of Chambersburg, Middletown, and Tarentum.
These three public power communities are the latest to benefit from the wide variety of services that AMP provides to its Members, AMP said.
“We are pleased to welcome these three communities as the newest AMP Members,” said Jolene Thompson, AMP President/CEO. “They are strong communities with long-standing traditions of strong leadership and community-minded service, and their commitment to providing exceptional service to their residents aligns well with AMP’s mission. I look forward to working alongside them and helping to enhance their electric services and support their continued success.”
Formed in 1971 and based in Columbus, Ohio, AMP is the nonprofit wholesale power supplier and services provider for more than 130 Members, including municipal electric systems in the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia; as well as the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation, a joint action agency in Smyrna, Del.
Together, these Member utilities serve approximately 665,000 customers. Currently, there are 32 Pennsylvania public power communities in the AMP Membership.
AMP provides a wide range of services on a cooperative, nonprofit basis for the mutual benefit of all Member communities. Services include power supply planning, environmental compliance, lineworker and safety training, economic development, financing, efficiency programs and more.
