Alexander City, Alabama, a public power community, recently celebrated the ribbon cutting of a new substation, “an investment that will strengthen our community and prepare us for future growth,” the city and Chamber of Commerce said on June 9.
“This new substation will help relieve the load from the Highway 280 substation, provide increased reliability for critical facilities such as our hospital and nursing homes, and create the capacity needed for continued growth east of Highway 63—from the Highway 280 intersection all the way down the corridor,” the city government and Chamber of Commerce said in a Facebook post.
The city and Chamber of Commerce thanked the following entities that played a role in helping to complete the project:
- City of Alexander City Public Works – Site Preparation
- Aubrey Silvey Enterprises – Substation Builder
- Southern States Utilities – Overhead and Underground Line Construction & Right-of-Way Clearing
- Energy Southeast - Wholesale Power Supply and Infrastructure Partnership
- Stewart Engineering – Lance Junkin and team for the substation study, design, and drawings.
“This project is another example of how Alexander City is investing today to support tomorrow's homes, businesses, and opportunities. We are excited about what lies ahead,” the city and Chamber of Commerce said.
