Join utilities across the U.S. in celebrating the achievements and efforts of utilities with a Reliable Public Power Provider designation July 13-17, 2026. All week long, APPA will highlight how utilities have gotten involved in the program and how the designation has helped improved their operations and service to communities.

"Since we have been participating in the RP3 program, our utility has improved the most when it comes to tracking workforce development and ensuring we are both training our employees properly as well as working to retain the skilled employees that are critical for daily operations."

-Solomon Brackett, Assistant General Manager of Utilities, City of Troy, Alabama

Where Are the Utilities with RP3 Designations?

Public power utilities of all sizes across the U.S. have earned the RP3 designation. Among 261 utilities that hold an RP3 designation, 35 (13%) serve less than 10,000 customers.
