The U.S. Senate on May 18 confirmed David LaCerte for a second term as Commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, extending his appointment until June 30, 2031.

Commissioner LaCerte was first sworn in on October 27, 2025, to serve the remainder of a term expiring on June 30, 2026.

During his initial term, Commissioner Lacerte’s focus has been on advancing and modernizing long overdue infrastructure projects, advancing grid reliability, and keeping energy affordable for American households and industry, FERC noted.

He has been actively engaged in modernizing the Commission’s permitting processes, supporting reforms to reduce regulatory delays and providing greater certainty to speed up infrastructure projects needed to meet rising energy demand, FERC said.
