Austin Energy’s Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report highlights major progress in clean energy, grid resiliency and customer energy solutions during a milestone year for the utility, the Texas public power utility reported on May 6.
In FY25, Austin Energy celebrated 130 years of service while advancing implementation of the Resource, Generation and Climate Protection Plan to 2035 through record solar growth, expanded demand response participation and continued investments in electric system resiliency.
Highlights from the report include:
• Implementation of the Resource, Generation and Climate Protection Plan to 2035.
• Addition of a record 18.8 MW of local solar capacity.
• Execution of an agreement for up to 100 megawatts of battery storage capacity.
• Advancement of the Electric System Resiliency Plan.
• Expansion of demand response participation, reducing peak load by more than 57 megawatts.
• Expansion of customer affordability efforts, with the Customer Assistance Program serving more than 80,000 participants.
• Response to the May 2025 Microburst, one of the most destructive events in Austin Energy’s history, restoring service to approximately 124,000 customers.
