Jan. 22 marked an important milestone for the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority. The date marks the 67-year anniversary of NTUA’s serving the Navajo people.

“Sixty-seven years ago, our former Navajo leaders planted the seed for what NTUA would become, guided by a deep commitment to serve the Navajo people through a tribally owned utility. Since then, our journey has been shaped by the communities we serve, the challenges we’ve faced, and the progress we’ve made together,” said Walter “Wally” Haase, NTUA General Manager. “We are truly grateful for the foundation laid before us and hope we continue to honor that vision as we move forward.”

What began as a small water utility with just 12 employees has grown into an organization with 913 employees. Today, NTUA proudly provides communications, electric, water, wastewater treatment, natural gas, and off-grid residential solar services across the Navajo Nation, NTUA said.

“This anniversary is a time to celebrate our success, hard work, and growth—and to reflect on the journey that brought us here. Thank you for your continued support throughout the years. We could not have reached this milestone without you,” NTUA said.
