Great Lakes Utilities recently announced that Rice Lake Utilities and Gresham Municipal Utilities have joined as their newest members.
GLU is a Joint Action Agency that was established in 2000 under Wisconsin law to help municipalities secure low-cost, reliable electric power.
With the addition of Rice Lake and Gresham, GLU strengthens its diverse membership of Wisconsin communities working together to enhance local services and provide cost-effective power supply solutions.
“We’re excited to welcome Rice Lake and Gresham to our membership,” said Nicolas Kumm, Managing Director of GLU. “Their membership expands our collaborative approach and helps ensure our communities remain successful today and into the future with reliable, affordable power supply.”
“Joining GLU provides Rice Lake with an opportunity to collaborate with other communities across Wisconsin,” said Tim Aaby, Utility Manager of Rice Lake Utilities.
“We see real value in the shared expertise and planning resources that will help us continue delivering reliable service to our customers.”
“This partnership positions Gresham well for the future,” said Brian Carroll, Operations Manager of Gresham Municipal Utilities. “By working with other members, we’ll be better prepared to manage costs and deliver reliable power for years to come.”
As a municipal electric company, GLU operates as a public body independent from its member communities.
Today, it serves 13 electric municipalities across Wisconsin, providing power supply resources, energy planning and forecasting, energy market participation, scheduling, rate case support, and other services through a project-based approach.
