The Illinois Municipal Electric Agency, the wholesale supplier of electricity to 32 member municipalities, recently announced the completion of two solar projects in the state.
The Marshall solar project, a one-megawatt solar site, is now operational and generating carbon-free electricity.
The solar site is located between the Marshall Food and Clothing Pantry and the City’s wastewater facility. The solar project is a single-axis tracking solar energy generation facility that is expected to generate 1,824 megawatt hour in its first year of production, IMEA said.
The project, which is located on the city’s property, was approved by the Marshall City Council. Cory Sheehy, Marshall’s Director of Public Works, then worked with IMEA staff throughout the build to ensure the project’s successful completion. A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for later this summer.
IMEA entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with Altorfer Inc. to build, develop, and operate the solar site. IMEA’s 32 municipalities will receive all the project’s outputs- carbon-free energy and renewable energy credits.
The Princeton solar project, a 1-MW solar site, is also now operational and generating carbon-free electricity.
The solar site is a single-axis tracking solar energy generation facility with a power generation of 1781-MWh expected from its first year of production.
The project, located on city property, was approved by Princeton City Council. Jeff Mangrich, Princeton’s Superintendent of Electric and Telecommunications, worked with IMEA staff throughout the build to ensure its successful completion. A ribbon-cutting is scheduled this summer to celebrate the solar addition.
IMEA entered into a PPA with Altorfer Inc. to build, develop, and operate the solar site. IMEA’s 32 municipalities will receive all the project’s outputs- carbon-free energy and renewable energy credits.
The solar projects are another step toward IMEA’s vision of a net-zero power supply portfolio by 2050.
