The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has several resources, including financial and technical assistance programs, that could help public power utilities tackle the challenges of providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable power to their communities. Department of Energy Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) Technical Assistance Program

April 2, 2-3 p.m. ET

Hear from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory about the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) program, designed to provide community entities, including public power utilities, with free expertise and tools and achieve their clean energy goals. Learn more about the three types of assistance provided by C2C including multi-year technical assistance to model, analyze, and validate clean energy solutions through In-Depth Partnerships; six-month Peer-Learning Cohorts on a variety of clean energy and electrification topics; and on-demand Expert Match services that connect utilities to National Lab experts for 40-60 hours of dedicated support related to any clean energy transition topic including renewable energy, resilience, energy efficiency, and transportation electrification.

Department of Energy Home Efficiency Rebates Program

April 16, 2-3 p.m. ET

The DOE Home Efficiency Rebates Program will award grants to state energy offices to provide rebates to reduce the price of energy-saving retrofits in multi-family and single-family homes. This is an opportunity for public power utilities to engage with their customers, promote energy efficiency, and help save their customers money on retrofits.  Learn more about the Home Efficiency Rebates Program, including how your utility can best coordinate with your state energy office to provide energy savings data and how DOE can provide support for states and utilities to work together.

Department of Energy Loan Program Office Title 17 Clean Energy Financing

May 1, 2-3 p.m. ET

Hear from the DOE Loan Program Office about Title 17 Clean Energy Financing, which can support clean energy development and energy infrastructure reinvestment. Specifically, public power utilities may be interested in Title 17 for innovative energy projects that deploy technology that has yet to be widely commercialized, or projects that retool, repower, repurpose, or replace energy infrastructure that has ceased operations, or projects that allow operating energy infrastructure to avoid, reduce, utilize, or sequester air pollutants or greenhouse gas emissions.  LPO can support projects through direct loans from the U.S. Treasury or partial guarantees of debt.
