Florida public power utilities have worked around the clock to restore power for customers impacted by Hurricane Idalia and as of the afternoon of Aug. 31 power has been restored to more than 210,000 customers, the Florida Municipal Electric Association reported.

FMEA noted that along with crews from Florida public power utilities, the restoration efforts included more than 400 public power mutual aid resources from out of state and in Florida, plus hundreds of contractors and tree crews, have restored power to more than 210,000 customers.

More than 99% of all Florida public power utilities customers have electricity as of 2 p.m. on Aug. 31.

“Restoration crews will continue to work 24 hours a day until every single customer who can receive power is restored,” FMEA said.
