Piedmont Municipal Power Agency has issued a request for proposals to sell 50 megawatts of its nuclear capacity entitlement.
The RFP and term sheet outline the request, which would ultimately be memorialized in a Power Purchase Agreement between PMPA and the purchaser.
PMPA is a joint action municipal power agency with an undivided ownership interest of 25% of Unit 2 of the Catawba Nuclear Station, which was constructed and is operated by Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC.
Since 1985, PMPA has, through power sales agreements, served 10 South Carolina cities in the Piedmont region of South Carolina.
Proposals are due January 31, 2025.
A shortlist notification is scheduled for February 28, with the development of the PPA to follow. PMPA anticipates approval in 2025 and the effective date of January 1, 2026.
