The Michigan Public Service Commission recently announced funding for an energy storage project in the public power community of Sturgis, Mich.
The PSC grant for the Electric City energy storage project is $1,047,266 and is being developed by Prism Power, which is based in Michigan.
Chris McArthur, Electric Superintendent for the City of Sturgis, said that the project is a 10MW/40MWh battery storage facility that will be on the city of Sturgis’s distribution system.
The system will serve the city residents by offering capacity and resiliency to the power system in Sturgis.
Construction of this project is estimated to start in 2025.
