Florida public power utility OUC on July 25 hosted a Youth Energy Academy interactive experience for local students to learn about a career in the utility industry.
Approximately 65 students from Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake counties visited OUC’s Conway Water Treatment Plant facility to participate in a series of hands-on learning exercises, including a Balancing the Grid engagement session hosted by the Orlando Science Center and a Mock Hurricane Simulation by BAM (Black Architects in the Making) Orlando.
The 13th Annual Orlando Youth Energy Academy is a two-day career exploration event in partnership with the American Association of Blacks in Energy, OUC, Duke Energy and Siemens.
The event aims to generate interest by educating a diverse group of young people about opportunities, technology and innovation in the energy arena.
