Dwayne Fulk has been chosen as the new President and CEO of City Utilities of Springfield, Mo., the public power utility said on Aug. 23.
Fulk, who will step into the role November 1, 2024, has been a key leader within City Utilities since 2017, most recently serving as Senior Vice President-Chief Legal and Economic Development Officer, where he oversaw the Developer Services, Economic Development, Electric Reliability Compliance, Environmental Affairs, Internal Auditing, Legal & Government Relations, and Records Governance departments.
The news related to Fulk’s new role was announced by the City Utilities Board of Public Utilities.
“With more than 30 years of experience in legal and business leadership, Fulk has a proven track record in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and strategic development, and currently serves as a representative of the municipal utility sector on Southwest Power Pool’s Members Committee,” the utility noted.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Fulk has a strong history of civic involvement in Springfield.
He has held leadership roles in several local organizations, including serving as President of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, Rotary Club of Springfield, and the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The four-month long selection process included significant input from City Utilities employees and community stakeholders.
Feedback was collected through surveys and focus groups, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the qualities and expertise desired in the next President and CEO.
In April, Gary Gibson, the current President and CEO of City Utilities of Springfield, Mo., announced his plan to retire.
The utility serves more than 125,000 customers with electric, natural gas, water, broadband, and transit services.
