When a major storm hits, public power utilities move fast. Mutual-aid crews deploy, hotel rooms are secured, fuel is purchased, equipment is mobilized, and emergency expenses begin accumulating before restoration is even underway.
Once service is restored, however, another challenge begins: proving what the response actually cost.
This session will explore how public power utilities can make financial readiness part of operational resilience. Attendees will learn practical approaches for capturing and connecting emergency-related expenses to the right event, work order, and funding source; strengthening documentation for audit and reimbursement; and reducing the need to reconstruct storm costs weeks or months after crews return home.
