Webinar Overview
GARS is a website that provides access to all U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for state and local governments. It includes material from the GASB’s Codification, Original Pronouncements, and Comprehensive Implementation Guide, as well as related resources and tools. This session will provide an overview of the content and structure of the GASB's three content collections and will demonstrate the features and functionality of GARS. After participating in this session, attendees will have an understanding of the following:
- What information is included in GASB's Codification, Original Pronouncements, and Comprehensive Implementation Guide, and how is each organized
- In what ways the content in one collection differs from the content in the other collections and when might each collection be a useful source of accounting information
- What features are available in GARS to support accounting research.
GARS is a free resource from the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and is available to all.

This webinar is designed for utility accounting, finance, and operations personnel who would like to gain a better understanding of the GASB Governmental Accounting Research System.
