Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Oct .14 announced the fourth Texas Energy Fund (TxEF) loan agreement for a 460 megawatt natural gas power plant in Fairfield, Texas. Calpine Corporation will build the plant which is expected to begin generating power for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas power region before summer 2026.
AEP Ohio on Oct. 23 filed a settlement agreement that addresses the power needs of Ohio’s growing data center industry “while protecting AEP Ohio’s other customers,” the utility said.

On Jan. 28, the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved a Facility Permit for the South Dakota portion of the Big Stone South to Alexandria (BSSA) 345-kilovolt transmission line.
