The Utility Board for Florida public power utility Keys Energy Services on Sept. 10 held a public hearing and approved the utility’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget and five-year financial plan. The approved FY 2026 budget for KEYS is $125 million.
KEYS’ Fiscal Year runs from October 1 to September 30.
Effective January 1, 2026, an average residential customer, consuming 1,250 kilowatt hours of energy per month, will see their bill go from $182.69 to $185.69, a 1.6 percent increase. The budget supports KEYS’ goals and objectives which include a heavy emphasis on storm hardening and maintaining reliability of the transmission, distribution, and generation facilities.
In other business the Board approved the renewal of property, general liability, automobile liability, physical damage comprehensive and collision, and Workers’ Compensation insurance with Preferred Government Insurance Trust (PGIT), in the total estimated amount of $644,858. They also approved equipment breakdown insurance with Hartford Steam Boiler for an additional $119,075.
