Arizona public power utility Salt River Project ranked third nationwide among electric utilities serving more than 500,000 customers for reliability performance, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), SRP recently reported.
Reliability is measured using the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), which tracks the average outage duration per customer, and the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), which measures outage frequency, it noted.
In 2024, SRP ranked third for SAIDI and 16th for SAIFI — an improvement from 2023, when it placed fifth and 26th, respectively.
SRP noted that its reliability metrics include all types of interruptions and are not adjusted for major events, weather, or planned maintenance, underscoring the strength of our systems and processes.
Reliable power benefits not only SRP’s residential and commercial customers but also plays a key role in attracting businesses to the region, it said.
