Southwest Power Pool’s board of directors recently approved an industry expert panel (IEP) recommendation for Transource Oklahoma, LLC with Transource Energy, LLC to build the Mathewson-to-Redbud transmission project.
The proposed 38.4 mile 345-kilovolt line from the Mathewson substation to the Redbud substation in Oklahoma will cost an estimated $72 million to construct and is expected to be completed in 2027.
The board approved OGE Transmission, LLC with ITC Great Plains, LLC as the alternate builder.
The IEP evaluated this project through SPP’s competitive transmission owner selection process, which is required under the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Order No. 1000 for certain transmission projects.
It is the sixth project for which SPP facilitated this process since 2015.
In response to FERC’s Order No. 1000, the SPP board of directors annually forms a pool of individuals, which is utilized to form an IEP.
This group reviews, ranks and scores proposals for certain transmission projects approved for construction by the SPP board of directors.
