The South Carolina Association of Municipal Power Systems recently announced that it is changing its name to Palmetto Power Cities.
“Palmetto Power Cities emphasizes collaboration as a core organizational strength while also recognizing the vital role municipal power plays in South Carolina,” an announcement related to the change noted.
“The new identity highlights the organization’s commitment to adapting to industry changes while continuing to focus on mutual aid, advocacy efforts, education and shared expertise for our members and partners,” Palmetto Power Cities noted.
“In 1972, a group of municipal electric utilities in the Palmetto State joined together to start the South Carolina Association of Municipal Power Systems, a group that advocated for shared interests and established a network for mutual aid. Over time, its membership and its purpose grew. Today, we are excited to announce the next milestone for the organization, as its name is changing to Palmetto Power Cities,” the announcement said.
Along with the name change, Palmetto Power Cities also unveiled a new logo.

Palmetto Power Cities is an affiliate of the Municipal Association of South Carolina, an association dedicated to offering the services, programs and resources necessary for municipalities to further the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.
