D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments, in partnership with California public power utility SMUD, on Nov. 1 announced that a solar facility in Imperial County, Calif., has reached commercial operation.

The project, called Drew Solar, is a 100-megawatt (ac) solar energy facility that has a power purchase agreement with SMUD.

SOLV Energy served as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor, and will also provide ongoing operations and maintenance services to the facility.

The Navajo Tribal Utility Authority and Bona Terra Energy were involved in the co-development of the project.
