Acting Under Secretary of Energy Alex Fitzsimmons has named Robin Furrer as Acting Administrator and CEO of the Bonneville Power Administration following the federal retirement of John Hairston on April 30.

Furrer has more than 35 years of experience at BPA and has served as BPA’s Chief Administrative Officer since 2019.

Effective May 1, Furrer will begin serving as BPA’s Acting Administrator while the U.S. Department of Energy concludes its selection process for a permanent BPA Administrator and CEO.

Oregon public power utility Eugene Water & Electric Board's elected Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on February 17 to approve an employment agreement with Hairston, officially naming him as EWEB’s next general manager. Hairston will begin his role on May 11.
