President Biden recently asked Congress to provide an additional $1.6 billion for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program as part of a $56 billion domestic supplemental spending request.

The White House noted that last year alone LIHEAP served more than six million households. “This funding is critical to preventing drastic service and benefit cuts compared to last year,” it said.

The American Public Power Association strongly supports LIHEAP.
