The U.S. Economic Development Administration announced that the Port of Shelton will be awarded $100,000 to partner with Mason County PUD 3 on the expansion of a substation.

The funding will support a feasibility study and is provided through the 2023 Disaster Supplemental funding package, designed to aid communities in economic recovery and revitalization following a presidential disaster declaration.

The substation will serve development within the Port’s Sanderson Field airport and industrial park. Once completed, the project will strengthen the local economy and promote economic growth throughout the region.

“PUD 3 plays a critical role in supporting economic development in Mason County and views this project as part of our overall strategy to ensure regional competitiveness. Securing federal grant funding for projects allows us to build infrastructure while maintaining affordable rates for our customers,” said Annette Creekpaum, PUD 3’s CEO.
