New York Transco and the New York Power Authority recently launched a new mobile app to keep residents, businesses and stakeholders along the Propel NY Energy transmission project route informed and engaged.
The app is designed to bring timely, accurate project information directly to those along the 90-mile transmission route and beyond, New York Transco said.
The App, now available for free on both the Apple Store and Google Play, features event notifications, fact sheets, route maps, and more, “making it easier than ever for residents and businesses to stay connected to the project and receive important updates,” it said.
Propel NY Energy is a 90-mile underground and submarine electric transmission project designed to strengthen the reliability, resiliency, and capacity of New York’s electric grid.
The project covers parts of Long Island, Queens, the Bronx, and Westchester County. It is currently advancing federal, state and local permitting processes, with construction expected to begin in mid-2026.
“As we continue advancing one of New York’s most important energy infrastructure projects, it’s essential that we keep communities informed and connected at every step,” said Shannon Baxevanis, Director of Communications & Public Affairs at New York Transco. “The Propel NY Energy App offers an easy way for residents to access real-time updates and project details, stay aware of construction timelines, and learn how this project will benefit their communities.”
“Propel NY Energy is a critical energy infrastructure project that is using the latest communications tools available to keep all New Yorkers informed,” said Susan Craig, Director, Communications and External Affairs, New York Power Authority. “The Propel team has been consistently sharing information in communities. The new App will complement those efforts, sharing project benefits and ensuring that those who live and work along the project will know when we’ll be in their area.”
This new digital tool builds on NY Transco and NYPA’s extensive outreach spanning nearly two years, which has included open houses, community information sessions, stakeholder briefings, local events and area pop-ups, and online webinars.
“Once the project enters the construction phase, the App will become even more essential in sharing construction schedules and updates. The App also features a direct channel for questions and feedback,” New York Transco said.
