New York Power Authority President and CEO Justin Driscoll has been named a 2026 Economic Development Trailblazer by City & State New York.
“Justin Driscoll is leading the New York Power Authority into the nuclear age. Driscoll is tasked with implementing Gov. Kathy Hochul’s ambitious energy agenda, including developing a nuclear power plant upstate,” City & State New York noted.
“A new plant would be an immediate economic game changer, providing additional emissions-free electricity for the state, along with creating immediate jobs in the region. Driscoll already manages a massive public utility system, with 17 generating facilities and 1,550 circuit-miles of transmission lines. This summer, Driscoll helped to open the new Smart Path Connect power transmission project in Massena,” City & State New York said.
“Under Justin's leadership, NYPA has become one of New York's most effective economic development engines. Our low-cost power programs help businesses stay, grow, and invest in communities across the state, supporting more than 458,000 jobs and nearly $57 billion in capital investment,” NYPA noted in a LinkedIn post.
“Additionally, NYPA's work ahead on new nuclear and renewable energy will create thousands of jobs that can sustain families for generations, while strengthening supply chains in communities across New York. Thank you to City & State for recognizing the role reliable, affordable and clean power plays in building New York's economy,” NYPA said.
