Northern California Power Agency General Manager Tony Zimmer recently met with California State Senators, Assemblymembers, and key energy policy staff in Sacramento, Calif.

The meetings provided a valuable opportunity for policymakers to hear updates on agency projects and member priorities, NCPA noted in a LinkedIn post.

Discussions covered several critical and timely issues, including wildfire mitigation and liability, regionalization of energy markets, affordability, and reliability.

Zimmer thanked Assemblymember Joe Patterson and Senator Josh Becker for their leadership on passage of important legislation protecting community-owned utility investments in federal hydropower resources.

He also recognized Senator Jerry McNerney for successfully advancing legislation to ensure that electricity generated with green hydrogen is RPS-eligible.

Meetings with the Office of Speaker Robert Rivas, and Senators Henry Stern and Jesse Arreguin provided invaluable insights on the energy policy issues now before the Legislature, NCPA noted.

“NCPA values our ongoing partnership and active dialogue with California policymakers as we work together to ensure our communities have access to sustainable energy for years to come,” it said.
