A new substation is now operational in Hurricane City, Utah, a public power community.
Hurricane City, Utah’s Mayor, City Council and staff visited the power substation in May.
The Hurricane City power department has been working for the past three years to build the new Three Falls substation, which will have the capacity to transmit power at a voltage of 64000 volts.
The substation underwent testing in May to ensure its efficiency and safety.
It became operational this month, Scott Hughes, Hurricane City’s Power Director, told Public Power Current on June 25.
