Texas public power utility New Braunfels Utilities has achieved a significant safety milestone, reaching 1 million work hours without a lost time incident.
This designation means that no NBU employee has encountered a workplace related injury that resulted in missed workdays since June 16, 2025.
Maintaining a safe workplace helps NBU employees continue operating and maintaining the electric, water and wastewater systems that serve more than 70,000 customers, it noted.
“This milestone reflects the commitment that our employees make to safety every day,” said Billy Shearer, NBU safety manager. “Reaching 1 million hours without a lost-time incident is the result of employees embracing our Speak Up, Lead and Care for All mindset, looking out for each other and making safe decisions every day.”
"Daily, NBU employees work in various environments, including electric substations, water and wastewater facilities, construction sites and roadways. The utility's safety program focuses on hazard recognition, employee training and accountability to help prevent workplace injuries," it said.
