In a recent podcast episode, Troy Adams, CEO and General Manager of Wisconsin public power utility Manitowoc Public Utilities, and Tyler Vorpagel from Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin, discuss MPU’s Refuel Renewable Project.

They participated in a Customer First! Coalition podcast called the Electric Wire. One of the themes in the interview was the value of Public Power and service to community.

Vorpagel is Government Relations Director for Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin.

The Customer First! Coalition was formed in the 1990s as a response to electric utility deregulation discussions in Wisconsin.

The Refuel Renewable Project began in 2021 and entails refueling two primarily fossil fuel-fired boilers to run exclusively on Wisconsin-recognized 100% renewable densified fuel pellets.

These pellets are made from local non-economically-recyclable industrial paper and plastic waste that would otherwise be landfill-bound.
