A wholly-owned direct subsidiary of Meta Platforms Inc. has filed an application at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission seeking acceptance of a market-based rate tariff.

“Applicant is a limited liability company organized and existing under the laws of the State of Delaware that, among other things, has been formed to act as a power marketer to sell energy, capacity, and certain ancillary services at wholesale in the United States,” the filing by Atem Energy said.

“Applicant does not own or operate any facilities for the generation, transmission, or distribution of electric power. Currently, Applicant does not purchase any energy and/or capacity from an unaffiliated third party pursuant to a long-term firm agreement reportable under Order Nos. 8165 and 860.”

“Applicant requests authorization under its proposed MBR Tariff to sell energy, capacity, and certain ancillary services to any purchaser that is not a franchised public utility affiliate,” the filing said.
