Lee Meyerhofer, Commission President for Wisconsin public power utility Kaukauna Utilities Commission, was elected in July to chair the American Public Power Association’s Policy Makers Council.
Members of the PMC meet twice a year in Washington, D.C., and at least once a month by Zoom.
More than 25 PMC members and (15 non-PMC members who are employees of APPA members) came to Washington, D.C., the week of July 22 to meet with their congressional delegations. There were approximately 40 meetings held on Capitol Hill.
PMC members emphasized the following issues in their meetings with lawmakers: elective payment tax credits, energy infrastructure permitting reform, addressing climate change, financing infrastructure investments, and addressing the supply chain crisis.
The outgoing PMC chair is Jeff Hall, Commissioner, Benton PUD (Washington State).
Meyerhofer will serve his term from July 2024 to July 2025.
Two new PMC officers were elected -- Eric Moerman from Sioux Center, IA, was elected 1st Vice Chair and Alex Cardenas from Imperial Irrigation District, CA, was elected 2nd Vice Chair.
