The Lansing Board of Water & Light, a Michigan public power utility, has earned a Diversity Star Award from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce.

In partnership with the Lansing Economic Area Partnership, the Diversity Star Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing equity, creating inclusive environments, supporting employees and communities, and championing diversity in the workplace and beyond.

The utility was honored with the award during the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 125th Anniversary Gala.

“Nationally recognized for operational excellence and community impact, BWL leads with a steadfast commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity. From workforce development and mentorship programs to supporting local initiatives in education and environmental stewardship, BWL demonstrates how organizations can create meaningful, lasting impact for both employees and the community it serves,” the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce said.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for the work that’s core to our culture and how we care for our employees and customers every day,” said  Lansing Board of Water & Light General Manager Dick Peffley. “While we don’t do this for awards, it’s important to celebrate these efforts to inspire continued progress, highlights best practices and remind us that diversity and inclusion strengthen our organizations and communities.”
