The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities on May 2 announced Nick Moreno's appointment as its first Stakeholder Engagement Manager, effective May 3, 2025.
“This new role reflects BPU’s commitment to community partnership, transparency, and strategic public engagement,” the Kansas public power utility said.
Moreno, who most recently served as a Communications Specialist at BPU, brings over six years of experience in stakeholder engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and community-centered communications.
In his previous role, Moreno cultivated relationships with school districts, civic leaders, nonprofit partners, and neighborhood organizations across Wyandotte County.
He also helped elevate BPU’s public presence through meaningful event planning, executive visibility efforts, and employee engagement initiatives.
As Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Moreno will lead BPU’s strategy to build long-term, trust-based relationships with customers, community partners, local elected officials, and advocacy groups.
He will be responsible for aligning sponsorships, enhancing community responsiveness, and representing BPU in high-visibility settings.
“Nick understands the importance of presence, professionalism, and partnership,” said Amber Oetting, Director of Communications and Marketing. “He brings authenticity and strategic thinking to every conversation and has earned the trust of colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders alike.”
“The Stakeholder Engagement Manager role is part of BPU’s growing commitment to building a visible and responsive public utility that actively listens, collaborates, and serves the people of Wyandotte County,” the utility said.
