The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities is inviting public feedback on its proposed 2024 Electric Integrated Resource Plan, it said recently.
The 2024 IRP, completed in collaboration with Black & Veatch, “is a comprehensive plan to assess how BPU can reliably, affordably, and sustainably meet its customers’ future electric needs,” the Kansas public power utility noted.
The plan utilizes computer modeling to explore various scenarios that may influence resource planning decisions.
As required by law, BPU must submit an IRP with the Western Area Power Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Energy.
A long-term IRP must be updated and submitted to WAPA every five years.
The full proposed 2024 IRP is available for review on BPU’s website.
Public comments are being accepted through October 10, 2024.
